Tip 1 – Prioritize Your Health
To improve work life balance you can start with prioritizing your health. Prioritizing your health has aspects of your diet, workouts and your sleep.
I know not all of them to implement directly and it’s hard as hell. But when you’re mature why it’s important to prioritize and you make small steps to your goal it’s better than nothing.
- Your diet
Maybe diet is the worrying word. More likely it’s depending on your nutrition. Diet is for me actually a negative associated word. Nutrition is an important part of health and life development.
- Psychical health as self care
I`m not sure if you ever experienced your workout and you feel good. Different researchers call this phenomenon ‘feel better effect’. And you will get different workouts – a swim, a run, or a little bit of yoga – can give you a positive boost.
You probably already heard movement increases endorphins, but also it trigger other brain chemistry processes.
There are different parts to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Your body needs nutritious food to keep your body in the field and keep you running. Diets with 1000 kcal are definitely not giving you enough energy to maintain a nutritious lifestyle. Balanced diet helps with your vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Everything is important to keep you running.
Staying hydrated will definitely make a change in your body. I switched from 0.5l to almost 3.5l Water daily and I see a huge difference. Enough water intake improves your digestion, energy levels, and heart health.
Another tip for having physical health is reducing screen time and sitting. Well both in overconsumption are clearly not good. A human is not designed to sit all day and look into a screen. When you sit less your heart needs to work more, which could be beneficial for your heart health.
Tip 2 – Set Boundaries
Boundaries helps in every relationship what is okay and what’s not – whether that be co-workers, friends, partners, or family members. Boundaries will protect your well-being and help us with respect in relationships, trust and safety. Common boundaries include emotional, sexual, physical and financial.
To set your boundaries first you need to understand your priorities. When you want to please everyone, it’s kind of a one-way ticket to burnout and resentment. You’re denying yourself and the pleasure to grow of what your values are. Make a list with your priorities and adjust on the way. It’s never ending and you need to align with your priorities.
Communicate your boundaries clearly. It’s nothing you should be ashamed of. When someone oversteps those you may want to give them more information. Also phrases are complete answers like “No, thank you.” If someone cares about why, give them more informazion and you can express your frustration.
Another tip: if someone cross your boundaries, go and reflect on yourself and take some space. No one should be ashamed if you need time for yourself and reflecting about what happened.
Keep in mind boundaries will change overtime and it’s completely okay to reassign them.
Tip 3 – Practice Mindfulness and Meditation
Mindful Practice can significantly change your overall well-being and leading to a happier, and more balanced life. I personally started with meditation 2 weeks ago and I already feel calmness within. Not only do I think more about my reaction in certain situations but also it helps me stop thinking in the evening. There are several Benefits of practicing mindfulness and Meditation.
Mindfulness promotes a state of relaxing and calm. You’ll definitely feel the reduced stress and see an improved focus. It’s normal that your concentration and attention will go “up”. There are research about mindfulness and what benefits your brain has. Mindfulness creates new connections in your brain ( your neural network). With an increased neural you will find a new way or even better way to handle tasks and coping with emotions and stress. A study from 2013 shows that with mindfulness gray matter in the brain grow. Increases density may mean an increased connectivity (Source).
How amazing is it to increase your brain function with easy tasks like meditation? You will see a difference within 8 weeks
How to get started with practicing mindfulness?
Before we get to how to actually practice, keep in mind it takes commitment. Mindfulness practice is like starting an exercise program or learning something new. You have to do it over and over again to gain the benefits. But Mediation and Mindfulness does connect us with that capacity, allowing us to deepen and refine it.
If you’re completely new there are a lot of guided meditations. You can find one on Youtube or Spotify. Those are add ons when you don’t want to try it alone. But in the end you need yourself, your breath and the courage to try.
Tip 4 – Make Time for Hobbies and Interests
Hobbies and interests that bring joy and relaxation are key to having a balanced life. Imagine jumping from Job, back home to the couch, then bed and next morning you will do it again. Over and Over. Is this really something that you call balanced? Hobbies can help to “get out” of the same circle.
Engaging in activities that bring joy and relaxation offers numerous social benefits. For one, participating in shared activities can help you build stronger relationships with family and friends, creating a sense of community. So, next time you’re feeling overwhelmed, remember the power of your social connections. Reach out to those who matter most, and let them help you find your footing. A balanced life is not just about managing tasks but also about nurturing the relationships that support you.
